One of the biggest questions bloggers of all stripes face is how often they should blog. Especially for bloggers that starting with their blog.
There is no single answer. It all depends on you.
How Often Should You Blog?
What is your purpose for the blog? Is it for a business or is it a personal blog – for a hobby?
If you write a blog only when you feel inspired, then you already have the answer. If you have a blog that supports your business or you would like to become professional blogger then it’s a good idea to plan your posts and plan how often you will post.
How much time do you need to create one post?
How long do you need for one average post? This can vary depending on what you need – do you have only text, a video that you also have to make, photos, graphics …
If you’re just starting out with a blog and you don’t have any experience, try to write one post and keep track of how much time you need for it. Sometimes we forget that for a new post we also need time to do research, add photos or graphics, optimize it… Then you also need time for a promotion! And these “little things” can take quite some time.
How much time are you prepared to invest in a blog?
How much time do you have to blog – daily, weekly, monthly or even yearly? How much time do you have for a blog and how much are you willing to invest in it? Real. 🙂
Quality is most important than Quantity!
The quality of each post should always be more important than the number of posts! It’s better to post less and do it right.
Choose a Realistic Blog Posting Schedule
Now you have all information. Depending on how long do you need for one post, how much time do you want to invest, you can set the number of posts per week or month. If you are deciding between two numbers, choose a lower one and really do this. It is better to publish bonus post, rather than miss regular one.
Test it. Do you like your new schedule? You can also make a short poll and ask your readers how often they prefer.
Prepare a calendar of posts (topics) and plan new post for the month advanced
make a list of ideas for new blog posts (if you don’t have already)
choose a day when you will publish your posts (e.g. for me it is Sunday), so readers will expect it on this day.
In conclusion, blog as often as you would like, just be sure you are putting out quality and not just quantity.
